چکیده

Associations between socioeconomic status (SES) and personality traits have important implications for theory application. Progress in understanding these associations depends on valid measurement, unbiased estimation, careful assessment of generalizability. In this registered report, we used data from AIID, a large online study, to address three basic questions about SES. First, evaluated the measurement invariance common measure personality, Big Five Inventory, across indicators educational attainment, income, occupational prestige. Fit indices showed some instances detectable noninvariance, but with little practical impact substantive results. Second, estimated SES personality. Results that were largely independent (most rs < .1), contrast predictions derived several previous studies. Third, tested whether age trends moderated by did not support social investment theory, they suggest generalizable We discuss findings developing validating measures use diverse samples. also theories propose are responsive to, or partially responsible for, people’s economic conditions.

efl students gender and socioeconomic status: the use of politeness strategies in the first and second languages

within the components of communicative competence, a special emphasis is put on the “rules of politeness,” specifically the politeness strategies (brown and levinson, 1978) that speakers deploy when performing the request speech act. this is because the degree of imposition that making a request places upon one’s interlocutor(s) has been seen to be influenced by several factors among which, as ...

Factor structure and measurement invariance of a short measure of the Big Five personality traits

The main purpose of this study is to assess the factor structure and the measurement invariance of the Mini-International Personality Item Pool (Mini-IPIP; Donnellan, Oswald, Baird, & Lucas, 2006). The Mini-IPIP is a brief instrument evaluating personality traits according to the Big Five models. Two samples were collected comprising nearly 800 participants. Confirmatory factor analyzes reveale...

Factor structure and measurement invariance of the Wisconsin Schizotypy scales across gender and age.

The Wisconsin Schizotypy Scales are among the most widely used instruments for the assessment of psychosis proneness. The main goal of the present work was to study the dimensional structure underlying the Revised Physical Anhedonia Scale (RPhA), the Revised Social Anhedonia Scale (RSAS), the Magical Ideation Scale (MIS) and the Perceptual Aberration Scale (PAS). It was also explored whether th...

Dimensional structure and measurement invariance of the youth self-report across gender and age.

PURPOSE The aim of the present work was to examine the correlated eight-syndrome model of the Youth Self-Report (YSR) proposed by Ivanova et al [1], using a confirmatory factor analysis for ordinal data. Likewise, we explored the measurement invariance of the YSR across gender and age using multigroup comparisons, and checked whether there were differences in the latent means. METHODS The sam...

The aim of this study was to analyze the psychometric properties of the Portuguese version of the Motivational Climate Sport Youth Scale (MCSYSp) and invariance across gender and different sports (swimming, soccer, handball, basketball, futsal). A total of 4,569 athletes (3,053 males, 1,516 females) from soccer (1,098), swimming (1,049), basketball (1,754), futsal (340), and handball (328) part...
